In self-managed replicated environments, tables can unexpectedly become read-only when a node loses its connection to the coordination service. When this happens, the affected node can no longer participate in replication and will reject writes until the connection is restored. The most common causes are under-resourcing of the coordination service — hosting it on the same machine as ClickHouse in production, or allocating insufficient memory and CPU. This is usually resolved by ensuring the coordination service runs on dedicated hardware with adequate resources.
